A Dane County Sheriff’s Deputy, along with Mt. Horeb Police and EMS, responded to a one-vehicle injury crash at approximately 11:25 pm on Wednesday, December 22nd. The call initially came in as a blown transformer, but responders quickly learned that the transformer issue was caused by the vehicle crash.
The crash occurred on CTH ID, just east of CTH JG, in the town of Blue Mounds. When the deputy arrived the 1997 Lincoln Town Car was facing westbound on CTH ID, fully engulfed in flames. The driver, Timothy A. Viers, age 39 of Verona, had lost control on a slight curve in the road and struck a power pole. Power lines fell onto the vehicle, causing the fire. Viers was wearing his seatbelt and was able to escape the vehicle before emergency responders arrived. He was transported to UW Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were not life threatening.
Viers was arrested for OWI-1st Offense and cited for Too Fast For Conditions and No Insurance.
