The 2010 Dane County Plat Book, developed through the Dane County Clerk’s office and produced by the Dane County Planning and Development Department, was recognized as the best in the state at the Spring 2011 Wisconsin Land Information Association Conference.

This book, which offers detailed information about county roads, rural land ownership, parks and outdoor recreation opportunities, won the blue ribbon, “Best in Class” award in the “Map Books & Atlases” category.

“The Dane County Planning and Development Department has been consistently recognized for their innovation in delivering user-friendly resources to the public in a cost-effective way,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi.  “This award speaks to their hard work.”

The book details land ownership, approximate parcel size, and county and town roads.  It also shows the locations of Dane County parks, publicly owned lands, churches, schools, cemeteries and municipal halls.  Other unique features of the book include an ownership and road name index and aerial photos of jurisdictions.

The plat book was created entirely in-house, helping to reduce production costs for the county while maintaining the integrity and value of this important resource.  The project was led by a team of Dane County Planning and Development Department staff members including GIS Specialist Aaron Krebs and Senior Planner Curt Kodl.  The entire Records and Support Division within the Department assisted with production.

The award-winning book costs $28.50 and is available at the Dane County Clerk's Office in Room 106A of the City-County Building.
