At 7:08 am, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies, along with Madison Paramedics, UW Med Flight, and Fire and EMS from Oregon and Brooklyn, responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 in the town of Rutland.

A 32-year-old woman from Brooklyn was traveling southbound on Highway 14 at West Rutland Road in a Pontiac Sunfire, when she drove onto the shoulder, then over-corrected, crossed the centerline, and hit an oncoming Toyota Rav4.  The Pontiac Sunfire then rolled over, leaving the woman pinned inside.  She was not wearing her seatbelt and had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The Toyota Rav4 was operated by a 42-year-old woman from Evansville.  She was wearing her seatbelt, but also had to be extricated from her vehicle.

Both women were transported by ambulance to UW Hospital, and upon their arrival, the 32-year-old Brooklyn woman was pronounced dead.  The 42-year-old Evansville woman was admitted with serious injuries.

Highway 14 between CTH A and Highway 92 is currently closed and is expected to re-open at approximately 11:00 am.
