FATALITY CRASH IN THE TOWN OF VIENNA

Madison, WI: October 26, 2008 – At approximately 6:46 p.m. Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol, Deforest Police and Deforest Fire/EMS responded to CTH V near CTH I for a report of a two-car crash.
A preliminary investigation indicates one vehicle was traveling westbound on CTH V and a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on CTH V attempted to make a U-turn directly in front of the westbound vehicle. The westbound vehicle had no time to react and collided with the vehicle making the U-turn. All three occupants of the vehicle making the U-turn were pronounce deceased at the scene of the crash. The operator, and sole occupant, of the westbound vehicle was transported by Deforest EMS to UW Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver and front seat passenger suffering fatal injuries were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The other occupant, who died in the incident, was an infant who was in the backseat restrained in a child safety seat.
The surviving operator of the westbound vehicle was wearing a seatbelt and airbags were deployed.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstructionists were called in to assist with the investigation. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this incident. This crash remains under investigation.
