Madison, WI. December 26, 2008. At 5:57 p.m., Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Fitchburg and Oregon Fire, Fitchburg Police and Fitch-Rona EMS, responded to a two-vehicle injury crash on CTH D, .4 mile south of CTH M, in the Town of Oregon. A vehicle driven by Cindy Albrecht, 52, of Oregon, was southbound on CTH D when her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a northbound vehicle driven by Jason Hinz, 16, of Oregon. Also as a result of Albrecht’s driving, a minivan was forced into the ditch, with no injuries reported. Albrecht and Hinz were pinned in their vehicles and required extrication. Airbags deployed in both vehicles. Hinz and his passenger, Emily Rauscher, 16, suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals. Albrecht was admitted to UW Hospital with back pain. All parties were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Albrecht was arrested for Causing Injury by Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated and Operating Left of Center. This is Albrecht’s third offense for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated. The crash remains under investigation at this time. Alcohol and dense fog are believed to be factors in the crash.
